High Performance Endorsement
The High Performance Endorsement is necessary for those pilots intending to operate airplanes with an engine of more than 200HP, which are normally bigger and with faster cruising speeds.
This endorsement gives the pilot the necessary tools to be aware of the performance capabilities of the airplane, since this type of aircrafts not only are capable of higher speeds but also, they involve a higher fuel consumption.
The FAA considers an airplane as high performance when at least one of it’s engines is capable of producing more than 200HP, in accordance with 14 CFR 61.31(f)
To obtain a High Performance Endorsement there is no minimum requirement in terms of ground instruction or flight training times. A classroom session and a training Flight with a certified FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) instructor in a high performance airplane, and the instructor will determine the pilot’s proficiency to operate the aircraft.
Once the training is completed, the flight instructor will sign the high performance endorsement in the pilot’s logbook.
